Evangelist Graham Urges Prayers As Anti-ICE Protests Spread Following Killing

Background

by Stefan J. Bos, Worthy News Chief International Correspondent

WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – American evangelist Franklin Graham has urged prayers for the United States and its leaders, saying “the radical socialist left” is seeking the destruction of the nation after the killing of a Christian woman by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.

With tense anti-ICE protests erupting across the U.S, Graham said he “would like to call for a time of prayer and repentance this Wednesday, January 14, at 12:00 noon” without specifying a single time zone.

“The only hope for America is God. I encourage you to pray. Pray for President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and all the Cabinet and leadership of our nation,” Graham wrote in a statement.

His appeal came as new details emerged about Renee Nicole Good, 37, who was fatally shot in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 7 while moving her car and “attempting to follow the orders” of an ICE officer, the Presbyterian Church said.

LAST WORDS HEARD IN VIDEO

Her last words to the ICE officer who shot her were “I’m not mad at you,” according to video footage. She was among protesters trying to prevent the detention of migrants staying illegally in the United States.

The Edgewater Presbyterian Church in Illinois, where she visited, remembered her saying that “Renee Nicole Good lived out the conviction that every person deserves kindness, regardless of their background.”

Her story is “a testament to the power of the Presbyterian mission and a challenge to our conscience.” The church cited John 15: 12–13: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Yet the ICE agent who shot her in Minneapolis is “a Trump-supporting Christian” and war veteran who has a Filipina wife, according to his family.

Jonathan Ross, 43, opened fire on Good last Wednesday after she allegedly approached him with her sport utility vehicle on a suburban street, though church sources deny she used her car as a weapon.

FUELING MORE UNREST ACROSS NATION

However, Graham suggested that Good’s death fueled protests involving anti-ICE crowds who reportedly include “paid agitators—chanting unbelievable things like, ‘Save a life, kill ICE!’ or ‘Kristi Noem will hang’.”

The protests “we see across the country right now are underpinned by the radical socialist left, whose goal is to make the United States like Venezuela, ultimately destroying the America we know. Lying, stealing, cheating—nothing is out of bounds in order to grab power. Unfortunately, many people joining these protests have no clue that they are just being used as pawns,” Graham stressed.

Referring to the Bible verse Psalm 11:3, he added, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

“As a nation, our sins are so great. We have increasingly turned our backs on God and His commands, embracing godless secularism. We need to ask His forgiveness and seek His face,” Graham said, adding: “Pray for our leaders, and pray that God would bring calm to our streets.”

Yet Christians also urged prayers for Good’s family, including her three children.
