U.S. Energy Production Hits Record Highs as Trump Administration Pushes “Energy Abundance” Agenda

Background

by Emmitt Barry, with reporting from Washington D.C. Bureau Staff

(Worthy News) – The United States has reached new historic highs in energy production, setting records for both crude oil output and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, according to fresh data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.

“In July, the United States set a record for oil production–13.6 million barrels a day. There’ll be new records set going forward,” Burgum told Fox News on Nov. 3, crediting President Donald Trump’s energy policies for the surge. “Countries in the Middle East are thrilled to see America back in the game of energy abundance rather than following Europe’s model of shutdowns.”

The EIA reported that U.S. crude oil production averaged 12.9 million barrels per day in 2023, the sixth consecutive year leading the world. In August 2025, output climbed to a record 13.79 million barrels per day–up from 11.31 million in August 2021.

Meanwhile, U.S. LNG exports continue to expand at a record pace. Burgum noted that under Trump, the U.S. has become “the world’s number one LNG exporter,” reversing earlier restrictions on new export facilities. According to the EIA, America shipped 11.9 billion cubic feet of LNG per day in 2024, surpassing Australia and Qatar, with August 2025 exports up 24 percent from a year earlier.

The interior secretary praised U.S. entrepreneurs and private investment for driving the expansion, citing “tens of billions of dollars” committed to new LNG facilities. “Energy diplomacy is working,” he added. “President Trump knows how to use it to end wars and bring prosperity at home as well as peace abroad.”

Burgum said the administration’s focus is on “energy addition,” not transition–boosting overall energy supply to strengthen allies and reduce reliance on adversaries such as Russia and Iran. He also tied America’s energy independence to national competitiveness, saying it would be key to “winning the AI arms race with China.”

The EIA projects that North American LNG export capacity will more than double by 2028, with the United States leading growth at 9.7 billion cubic feet per day as multiple projects come online. The agency also expects U.S. crude output to average 13.5 million barrels per day in both 2025 and 2026.

While the Department of Energy continues rebuilding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve–currently at about 400 million barrels–the nation’s record energy output underscores a decisive shift back toward production-led growth.

“Energy abundance isn’t just about economics,” Burgum concluded. “It’s about freedom, peace, and the strength to shape the world for good.”

Newly released Hamas Interior Ministry documents—seized by the Israel Defense Forces and analyzed by NGO Monitor—reveal the extent to which Hamas infiltrated and controlled foreign aid organizations operating in Gaza. Spanning 2018–2022, these Arabic-language files describe an “institutionalized framework of coercion, intimidation, and surveillance” that allowed Hamas to shape humanitarian work, manipulate international NGOs, and exploit aid systems for intelligence and military gain. NGO Monitor president Gerald Steinberg said the level of penetration “was far beyond the scope of our expectations.”
