SANAA/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen were reeling Monday from Israel’s biggest air raid to date against the Iran-backed Islamic group after it fired three ballistic missiles at the Jewish nation this month.
Israeli planes hit “dozens” of “Houthi targets” in Sunday’s strike as part of “an extensive, intelligence-based aerial operation,” the Israeli military said.
“Dozens” of Israeli fighter jets, mid-air refueling aircraft, and intelligence aircraft struck military targets belonging to the Houthi “terrorist regime” in the Ras Isa and Hudaydah areas of Yemen, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced.
The targets “included powerplants and a seaport used to import oil, which was used by the Houthi terrorist regime to transfer Iranian weapons to the region, in addition to military supplies and oil,” it added.
“The strikes were carried out in response to the recent attacks by the Houthis against the State of Israel,” the statement stressed.
“Over the past year, the Houthis have been operating under the direction and funding of Iran and in cooperation with Iraqi militias in order to attack the State of Israel,” the Israeli military explained.
The Houthis “undermine regional stability and disrupt global freedom of navigation.”
They have been targeting ships with perceived links to Israel.
