Turkey’s President Urges Russia, Iran, and Syria to Unite Against Israel

Background

By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News

JERUSALEM/DAMASCUS (Worthy News) – Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged Russia, Iran and Syria to unite in protecting “Syria’s territorial integrity” against Israel, which he called “the most concrete threat to regional and global peace.”

In remarks seen by Worthy News on Sunday, the Turkish leader warned Jerusalem that “We will defend an urgent and permanent peace in Syria.”

However, “It is essential that Russia, Iran, and Syria take more effective measures against this situation, which poses the greatest threat to Syria’s territorial integrity,” he told media.

Erdogan made clear that Turkey considers that “Israel is the most concrete threat to regional and global peace,” although his country is part of the Western NATO military alliance that maintains close ties with the Jewish nation.

An alleged Israeli airstrike on Syria’s capital, Damascus, on Tuesday, targeted a top Hezbollah official who Israel sources said was “part of a unit tasked with delivering weapons from Iran and its proxies to the terror group in Lebanon.”

Syria’s state-run media claimed seven civilians were killed and 11 others wounded in the strike.

REVOLUTIONARY GUARD

Syria said Israel’s military struck a residential and commercial building in the Mezzeh district of Damascus several hundred meters (feet) from the Iranian embassy.

Reports said, however, that the targeted building was linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which has been viewed as another threat to Israel.

The government of Israel has also pledged to strike back at Iran after it launched a barrage of some 200 missiles at Israel last week.

Erdogan has condemned Israel since its war against Hamas broke out on October 7 last year after its attack. Fighters murdered some 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.

Turkey said the attacks by Israel are disproportionate.

Israel has made clear it tries to avoid hitting civilians but accuses “terror groups Hezbollah, Hamas” and other proxies of Iran of using innocent citizens as “human shields.”
