GAZA CITY / JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israeli special forces captured a senior Hamas internal security chief Tuesday during a rare daylight raid in Gaza City, marking one of Israel’s most significant intelligence operations inside the enclave in recent months.
The suspect, identified in Israeli and regional reports as Muein al-Arabid, was described as a senior figure in Hamas’ internal security apparatus — the body responsible for policing Gaza, hunting suspected collaborators, and helping the terror group maintain control over the population.
According to Israeli officials, the operation was carried out jointly by the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet in a Hamas-controlled area of Gaza City. Israeli forces reportedly brought al-Arabid into Israel for interrogation after the raid.
The operation unfolded amid heavy Israeli military pressure in Gaza City, where Israel has continued targeting Hamas infrastructure, tunnel networks, command nodes, and operatives accused of trying to rebuild the terror group’s grip after months of war.

If confirmed, that would point to a dangerous new reality for Hamas — a battlefield where Israel is no longer relying only on airpower and border-area operations, but is exploiting cracks within the territory Hamas once ruled by fear.
For Hamas, the capture of an internal security official is especially damaging. Such figures are not merely field commanders; they are part of the machinery that keeps the organization’s intelligence, intimidation, and internal discipline intact. Losing one alive could expose networks, safe houses, collaborators, tunnel routes, and the group’s efforts to reassert control in Gaza.
Palestinian officials said Israeli strikes and gunfire connected to the operation killed several people in the area. Israel said its air force struck nearby targets to remove threats to its forces during the mission.
The raid comes as Israel continues to argue that Hamas is using any pause or political uncertainty to rebuild its military and governing capabilities. Israeli leaders have repeatedly said they will not allow Hamas to restore its rule in Gaza after the October 7 massacre.
While the full intelligence value of al-Arabid’s capture remains unknown, the symbolism is already clear: Israel reached into Gaza City in broad daylight, seized a senior Hamas security figure, and removed him from the battlefield alive.
For Hamas, that may be more than a tactical loss. It is a warning that the walls around its inner security circle are beginning to crack.
