Israel Warns Iran: ‘If Necessary, We Will Strike a Third Time’

Background

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Wednesday that Iran could face another major Israeli attack, declaring during a visit to Mount Hermon that Jerusalem remains prepared to strike again if Tehran renews threats against the Jewish state.

“We struck it twice, and when necessary, we will strike it a third time to continue thwarting the threats,” Katz said while visiting Israeli military positions on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Katz said Israel had severely damaged Iran’s strategic capabilities and would continue confronting both Tehran’s Shiite proxy network and Hamas-linked Islamist forces across the region.

Katz also made clear that Israeli forces intend to remain in the security zone established inside Syria, saying the position allows Israel to defend communities in the Golan Heights and Galilee while monitoring Hezbollah activity in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley and jihadist forces operating inside Syria. “We are here in the Hermon, we are in the security zone, and we are not moving from here,” he said.

Netanyahu, speaking from Mount Hermon, delivered a similar message, declaring that Israel would not allow a terrorist army to establish itself along its Syrian frontier and reaffirming his government’s commitment to defeating the Iranian threat. “We are committed to defeating the terror regime in Iran — and we will do it,” the prime minister said.

The warnings come as Israel remains on heightened alert ahead of Rosh Hashanah amid continuing concerns that Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, or other regional enemies could attempt to exploit the Jewish holidays for an attack.
