Khamenei Urges Muslim States to Unite Against U.S., Israel

Background

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei called on Muslim nations to close ranks against the United States and Israel, describing them as the “sworn enemies” of Muslim unity and urging regional leaders to identify and confront what he called their “real enemy.”

The remarks came in a written message issued for Islamic Unity Week, as Tehran seeks to rally Gulf and Muslim-majority nations behind a broader anti-U.S. and anti-Israel posture following months of heightened regional conflict.

Khamenei said divisions among Muslims serve the interests of Islam’s enemies and called for greater cooperation in security, wealth, science, and mutual defense. His message particularly pressed Gulf states to resist outside influence, warning that adversaries from “thousands of kilometers away” seek the region’s land and wealth.

The statement reflects Iran’s continued effort to frame its confrontation with Israel and the United States as a regional and religious struggle rather than a strictly Iranian conflict. Israeli and U.S. officials have long accused Tehran of destabilizing the Middle East through its support for terror proxies, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

Khamenei’s appeal comes as Iran remains under intense pressure from sanctions, military setbacks, and growing scrutiny over its role in regional warfare. Yet Tehran continues to present itself as the defender of the Muslim world, even as many Arab governments remain wary of Iran’s ambitions and its network of armed proxies.
