JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – More than 260 pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel demonstrations are planned worldwide surrounding the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas massacre, prompting heightened security concerns for Jewish communities and Israeli diplomatic facilities.
Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism said it has identified 262 protests and events across 37 countries through October 14. Seventy-five are scheduled for October 7 itself, while another 121 are expected during the weekend of October 10-11.
The United States leads with 45 planned events, followed by Spain with 40, Australia with 21, the United Kingdom with 19, Italy with 16, and Germany and Canada with 14 each.
Israeli officials have classified 21 demonstrations as high-risk and another 66 as medium-risk. Approximately 45 events are expected near Israeli embassies, consulates, or other Israeli facilities, including demonstrations in Seoul, Bogotá, Mexico City and Bangkok classified as high-risk. Major rallies in London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Rome and Milan are also being closely watched.
London Police Warn Organizers
In London, Metropolitan Police have urged organizers of a pro-Palestinian student demonstration planned for October 7 to reconsider the timing, noting that Jewish communities will be observing the anniversary as a day of mourning.
Police said the demonstration does not currently meet the legal threshold required to seek a ban, but authorities are preparing an extensive policing operation. Britain has also strengthened police powers to impose restrictions on protests near places of worship when demonstrations could intimidate worshippers.
The security concerns come amid a sharp rise in antisemitism since the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack. A recent report cited by Reuters found antisemitic incidents at British universities have risen nearly 80% compared with the period before the Hamas attack.
In New York City, anti-Zionist groups have announced an October 7 protest outside City Hall promoted with language praising “resistance” and imagery associated with Hamas, further raising concerns about demonstrations being staged on the anniversary of the massacre.
Israel’s National Security Council has separately warned Israelis and Jews abroad of heightened threats surrounding the anniversary, saying Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and global jihadist organizations continue efforts to target Israelis and Jewish communities overseas.
The demonstrations will coincide with memorial events around the world remembering the approximately 1,200 people murdered and 251 abducted during the Hamas-led October 7 assault—the deadliest single attack against the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
