(Worthy News) – Israeli troops have dismantled a one-kilometer Hamas tunnel in northern and central Gaza, part of the group’s underground warfare network. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also reported killing 50 Hamas terrorists in the area.
Israel’s campaign is not a full ground invasion but aims to apply “maximum pressure” on Hamas to accept a hostage deal. The security cabinet approved the escalation Saturday night, according to Prime Minister Netanyahu, as Israel anticipates attacks on troops in some areas.
The IDF has entered the next stage of its Gaza ground operation, issuing evacuation orders for all of Rafah as it prepares to “return with great force” to eliminate terror threats.
The IDF is launching a multi-week operation with heavy airstrikes on evacuated areas, followed by ground forces pushing in from both the north and south to expand buffer zones and shrink Hamas-controlled territory.
Troops of the IDF’s 252nd Division continue targeted operations to expand the security perimeter in central and northern Gaza. In the Netzarim Corridor and areas to the north, Yahalom Unit forces dismantled a one-kilometer Hamas terror tunnel as part of the offensive.
The operations will bring large areas along Gaza’s borders under Israeli control.
