(Worthy News) – A previously unknown terrorist organization with suspected links to Iran has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Jewish targets across Europe, raising alarms among security officials and Jewish communities.
The group, calling itself Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya (“The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right”), said it carried out four attacks over the past week. The incidents included an explosion at a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, an arson attack on a synagogue in Rotterdam, and a bombing at a Jewish school in Amsterdam. Analysts also believe the group may be connected to another attack on a Jewish site in Greece.
Security experts say the attacks so far have been relatively unsophisticated and mostly carried out at night, but warn that the threat could escalate.
Joe Truzman, a senior research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said initial statements from the group appeared amateurish but later propaganda videos suggested a more organized operation. He suspects the group may be directed by a larger entity, possibly Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has previously been linked to operations targeting dissidents and Jewish interests in Europe.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the group appears tied to an Iranian proxy network and accused Tehran of continuing to export terrorism beyond the Middle East.
Jewish organizations and Israeli officials warned that the attacks could signal an expanding campaign against Jewish communities abroad. Amichai Chikli, Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister, said the incidents reflect “a troubling pattern” of Iranian-linked terror networks extending their reach into European cities.
The U.S. Embassy in the Netherlands issued a security alert urging Americans to maintain heightened awareness following the attacks, warning that terrorists may target public areas and places of worship with little or no warning.
Jewish and Israeli security officials are also advising travelers to avoid displaying Jewish or Israeli symbols and to exercise caution when visiting Jewish institutions overseas amid rising threats.
