Trump Rejects New AI Guardrails as Technology Raises Biblical Questions

Background

Rapid advances once considered science fiction are making Scripture’s warnings easier to imagine

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump rejected calls for tighter artificial-intelligence safeguards Monday, arguing that America must remain ahead of China and that existing presidential authority provides sufficient oversight.

Trump’s remarks followed warnings from leading AI executives, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Amodei urged developers to slow the release of increasingly powerful systems, while Altman warned against allowing competitive pressure to push AI capabilities beyond effective monitoring. Trump maintained that AI would produce far more good than harm and characterized predictions that it could destroy humanity as a hoax.

The debate reaches beyond public policy. For Christians watching technology’s extraordinary growth, it also carries a prophetic dimension.

The book of Daniel describes the time of the end as a period when “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (Daniel 12:4) What seemed unimaginable only decades ago—the near-instant movement and analysis of information across the world—is now ordinary.

The Bible warns of a future system under the beast in which no one may buy or sell without the mark. (Revelation 13:16–17) Scripture does not identify artificial intelligence as that mark, and Christians should resist making claims the Bible does not make. Yet AI’s ability to analyze enormous amounts of information and automate decisions at scale offers a glimpse of how centralized control over identity and commerce could become technically possible.

AI may bring medical discoveries, economic growth and stronger national security. It may also place unprecedented power in the hands of governments and corporations. The Christian response should therefore be neither panic nor complacency, but discernment—testing every development against truth while remembering that technology does not overrule the sovereignty of God.
