WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – The United States has deployed space-control weapons in orbit, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink revealed Monday in an unusually direct acknowledgment of previously classified American capabilities.
Speaking at the Air, Space & Cyber Conference in Maryland, Meink said the systems can defend U.S. and allied forces against hostile adversaries. He offered no details about the weapons or whether they are designed to disable enemy satellites through electronic, cyber, directed-energy or physical means.
The disclosure comes as China and Russia expand systems capable of threatening the satellites that American forces rely upon for communications, navigation, missile warning and battlefield intelligence.
Washington is also moving forward with President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome missile-defense initiative and the LGM-35A Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile. The Air Force says the Sentinel program has completed testing of its three propulsion stages and is preparing for an initial flight test planned for 2027.
The message is unmistakable: America intends to preserve peace by ensuring its enemies cannot gain a decisive advantage above the Earth. That requires strength, vigilance and careful stewardship in a domain now essential to the nation’s defense.
